With COVID-19 case counts on the rise, it’s important to know what to expect from our transportation providers this winter. Overall, long distance and multi-state moves are more challenging due to a lack of return transportation availability.
ACERTUS and PARS are two leading supplier partners in the transportation industry. Wheels has been working with them closely on improving pick ups and deliveries. While we select transportation supplier partners that are well-prepared to continue operations through unforeseen circumstances, the uncertain nature of the pandemic requires further understanding and collaboration to ensure they can serve your fleet best as possible.
Both ACERTUS and PARS are essential services and can remain open during a phase one lockdown. Find their COVID-19 updates here: ACERTUS updates and PARS updates.
COVID: U.S. Transport Considerations
Some governors are closing their state lines. As a result, transport companies are working to determine how to pick up vehicles. There is also a shortage of transport trucks and drivers. Each of these elements is impacting the number of days to pick up.
For those vehicles that are being delivered, our partners have communicated with their drivers to take extra precautions regarding personal and vehicle cleanliness as well as social distancing when dropping off vehicles.
COVID: Canada Transport Considerations
Canada is increasing restrictions, as well. Each province is assigned a color (red, orange, or green). Travel between each province is restricted based upon their color. There are current travel restrictions in New Brunswick and Calgary. Travel between those provinces is not recommended, as it’s being monitored by the authorities. All service centers are by-appointment-only. Most Ministries of Transportation are by-appointment-only as well, which can cause delivery delays when inspections, maintenance or title and registration are required.
Note: Provinces with a stay-at-home order will be forced to reduce their work staff to 25% of the normal operations. Manitoba has declared a phase one status for the entire province.
Tips For Managing Your Fleet During COVID-19
Opt for contactless delivery and pick-up processes.
Considering current or future restrictions, we recommend limiting the number of moves between states and provinces.
Remember that the pandemic continues to cause delays in vehicle transport and other fleet services such as registration.
