While OEMs are stating that supply will improve this year, demand for new vehicles continues to be high. We anticipate, that again, cut-off dates could be announced with little or no notice. In this fluid and ever-changing environment, it is imperative that you prepare now so that when ordering is available you are ready!
As you are planning for the MY2023, please keep the following in mind:
- Be ready to act by having your replacement analysis complete and your replacement list created.
- Review last year’s specs, so that this year’s selectors can be built and approved as soon as the data is available.
- Reach out to your OEM rep now.
- Start your upfitting quotes and template process prior to the vehicle ordering date.
- Get orders in quickly.
- Consider placing orders before pricing is released and your OEM CAP agreement is finalized.
- Anticipate lowered incentives in the coming year across all manufacturers and models.
Most recently, GM announced that their MY23 truck ordering will open April 21, 2022, for all Silverado and Sierra trucks, 1500 through 3500, for production to begin in late summer/early fall. At this time, GM is stating that they will not have a pre-approval process for the truck models. While order banks open on April 21, we do not expect to receive specifications, pricing, and incentives for these models until May.
The Wheels Donlen teams are ready to help! Our acquisition team has regular conversations with the vehicle manufacturers and meets weekly to discuss order updates. We will continue to communicate updates accordingly. If you have any questions, please reach out to a member of your account team.
