Matt Patterson serves as the Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of Wheels, overseeing all legal matters that impact the business.
In his role, Matt ensures that Wheels’ legal strategies align with the organization’s overall business objectives, supporting growth and compliance in a complex regulatory environment. He also plays a key part in shaping industry standards as the Vice President of Energy and Environmental Affairs for the American Automotive Leasing Association.
Prior to joining Wheels, Matt was the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at LeasePlan USA, where he managed all legal functions leading up to its divestment from LeasePlan Corporation N.V. and its subsequent combination with Wheels Donlen. Previous to his role at LeasePlan USA, Matt served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Altium Packaging, overseeing legal affairs, risk management, environmental compliance, and human resources. Earlier in his career, Matt was the General Counsel and head of human resources at AirServ Corporation (acquired by ABM) and an Associate at King & Spalding LLP.
After graduating Magna cum Laude from Allegheny College with a degree in Political Science and Government, Matt received a law degree from the University of Florida, graduating with High Honors and serving as an Executive Editor of the Florida Law Review. Matt has received the Outstanding Corporate Counsel Award issued by the Association of Corporate Counsel and Atlanta Business Chronicle in addition to the Pro Bono Service Award issued by King & Spalding.
