Managing downtime and keeping drivers on the road can be challenging, as it requires effectively managing a broad range of tasks. This includes areas such as accident management, emergency vehicle procurement, registration, ensuring that drivers have the correct vehicle for the job, and maintaining an optimal replacement policy.
Those factors that most directly impact productivity can vary from one fleet to another. Wheels’ approach of working closely with each client to understand its specific needs and challenges with regard to fleet enables us to build a program and tailor our services to address those variances. By designing performance metrics tailored to each client’s needs, we are able to not only deliver results, but to provide meaningful measurements and recommendations based on those results.
There are aspects imbedded within each of our programs and services that support increased fleet productivity. Our focus on superior driver support allows your drivers to concentrate on their job responsibilities rather than their vehicle. By successfully managing all aspects of the vehicle lifecycle, we maximize uptime so the fleet can deliver the results your organization needs. Examples include a superior Accident Management program and the multiple vehicle procurement options we offer.
Our Accident Management Program is one of the many ways we contribute to increased fleet productivity. With repair specialists averaging over ten years’ field experience negotiating, approving and overseeing every repair, you are assured not only of competitive pricing, but of prompt service. Over 75% of accident repairs are completed in less than a week, re-work situations are at nearly 0%, and all work is guaranteed. When an Accident Management client is also on our Maintenance Assistance Program (MAP), additional knowledge is leveraged from maintenance repairs when making an accident repair decision and vice versa. These factors all contribute to our accident rentals being one day less than the industry average – a clear indication that we’re getting drivers back on the road faster.
All companies experience unexpected vehicle needs, although to varying degrees. Wheels offers several approaches to cost-effectively meet those needs and get drivers into vehicles and on the road as quickly as possible. We maintain a pool of popular vehicles with typical fleet options and strategically locate them across the country so they are immediately available to our clients. We also manage bailment pools on behalf of many clients, ordering the appropriate vehicles, issuing the necessary equipment purchase orders, communicating with the manufacturers and equipment companies to assure proper and timely release of information, and coordinating the delivery process. Immediate availability is particularly valuable in the case of upfit trucks, where downtime can be very costly and upfitting would otherwise delay the order-to-delivery process. Wheels also offers a rental program through which we make all arrangements for your drivers and provide discounted rates. For those cases where an out-of-stock purchase is determined to be the right approach, we maintain strong dealer relationships that allow us to negotiate the best price possible, and requested vehicles are often available within 48 hours.
